Emilio Pucci.

April 8, 2012

Hello all!

Sorry for my lack of blogging (again) but I’m back now, and expect more blog posts then you can shake a stick at! (I’ve never understood that saying, still don’t, but you get the picture) :)

With all this talk of Autumn Winter everywhere, I’ve completely forgotton about the current season we’re in, so this post is 100% dedicated to all things summery!
A week ago here in Ireland we got the most beautiful weather and I was able to wear a few new items that I had recently bought, including gorgeous yellow high waisted denim shorts, from Forever 21. In typical Irish style tho, the weather shifted and this week was raining and even snowing in some places, so my summer gear has been put away for the time being.

I came across a designer today that I have never really been into before, and I am ashamed to say I hadnt seen her Spring/Summer collection until this afternoon! Emilio Pucci – An Italian label, has the most gorgeous offerings I have seen in ages, cropped tops, maxis skirts and gypsy prints dominated and the models pale skin was set off by vivid red and black. The lavish accessories contrasted with minimal heels, there was show stopping gowns and chic day looks. It really is a collection that has it all, and is now my current favourite of the season!

It’s nice to see crop tops teamed with a maxi skirt rather then a figure hugging pencil skirt, or a high waisted skater skirt, I’m also a big fan of black lace in the summer, as it adds something different to a season known for its bright colours.

Check out some of my favourite looks from the show below, and tell me what you think of them!

Hello all!

I’ve had a busy few weeks and apologise for my lack of blogging, but now I’m back and heres my Paris Fashion Week post (a week late).

I must say after all the shows in all the fashion capitals I’m very excited about this Autumn, I think we’re going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to trends and there will be some hot new looks for us all to try, my ultimate fave from Paris was a new one for me this year: Valentino.

I have never really been such a huge V fan, and more so look to Balmain and Chanel when Paris Fashion Week comes around, however this year was different, and as you can see from the pics below this is one collection everyone should see!

Monochrome and head to toe red as well as shocking white and tough leather, its a very grown up collection that any fashionista could wear for instant chic, take a look and tell me what you think, and is there a show you loved from PFW?

Oscars 2012 fave look:

February 28, 2012

If I’m honest, I don’t have a lot of interest in the Oscars at all. However the beautiful clothes? They get my attention!
This year there was one look that won me over straight away, and that was Gwyneth Paltrow in this Tom Ford dress & cape.
What a stunning combination, I never thought a cape could be so ‘red carpet’ but here is the proof that it is VERY ‘red carpet’!
Gwyneth looks so chic and effortless, yet its quite a statement look. The plain colour tones the extravagance right down and makes sure her personal style isn’t over shadowed in any way at all.

What do you think of the look? Did you like this dress or any others at the Oscars?

Rant: Twitter abuse.

February 28, 2012

Last week on Twitter, like every other fashion fan out there, I was tweeting about Milan fashion week.
A certain designer who I will remain unnamed for this post, had made a collection that I quite liked, so I tweeted a picture of a purple fur coat and how bright and daring I thought it was. This comment was made out of pure opinion and I do understand that purple fur isn’t for everyone, how and ever the response I got shocked me.

I started getting bombarded with tweets about how I should not wear real fur, the poor animals that have suffered because of me, etc, etc. I am a vegetarian and if these people had of looked at my twitter for 3 seconds they would have seen how I have it written clearly on the top of my page, and also how I was tweeting about making Vegan pancakes.

I replied to all the comments and still they kept coming, about how faux fur encourages the real fur trade, and even one about how my fake fur is probably real…
How on earth could you fool someone into buying real fur?!
People then started saying that ‘if’ I was a vegetarian then I wouldn’t wear fake fur, hello?! IF?! I am a very proud veggie and I’m a member of several animal rights groups in my area, why the hell would I lie about all that?

I have loads of faux fur things and I’m obsessed with leopard print, I admire the beautiful animal’s coat so I want something like it, I don’t want IT.
The bottom line is I would never, ever, EVER wear real fur and I would happily bomb a fur shop in the morning if I had the chance, the whole experience really opened up my eyes to the internet and how you really need to be careful as to what you tweet.
I was only giving my opinion on an item, not promoting real fur in any way and I feel the mass of abuse I got was uncalled for.
Needless to say I gave twitter a miss for a few days and was actually turned off looking up anything more on fashion week.

Then I realised I shouldnt let ignorant people with nothing better to do get to me and here I am again, how and ever in the future I really hope people don’t accuse me of anything like that again, I was just so shocked and some of the comments were very harsh.

Anyway rant over! I hope everyone who follows me is keeping well, have any of you experienced anything like this online? In future I will be careful what I tweet!

Milan Fashion Week Faves.

February 28, 2012

Milan Fashion Week is just coming to an end and like the two weeks before it, it was one filled with glorious trends, some old, some new and some familiar looks with a 2012 twist.
We saw everything from sweet candy colours, gothic lace, boyish military and luxe coloured fur.
Below are some of my favourite looks from the week from the likes of Gucci, MaxMara and Jil Sander. Do you see anything you like?

London Fashion week is well under way and Milan is just around the corner, the big trend so far? Blue and Orange.
Bright tangy orange and every shade possible of blue are being teamed together to create a new colour combo, the colours are also being worn alone, with matching handbags and shoes. Seen everywhere from Erdem, Mulberry, Matthew Williamson and Antonio Berardi, everyone is having a go of winter brights.
These colours are all over the stores now so buy early and be on trend early! What do you think of this look? Will you be rocking summer style colours this Autumn season?

Fancy Shorts.

February 19, 2012

I need a shorts suit, like, now.
Something that I’m lusting after at the moment is a matching blazer & shorts set, summery, fresh and chic, this pair is a match made in fashion heaven!
I have seen a few nice sets in stores like River Island and expect them to be huge this summer, in pastel shades or clashing prints, this trend can be matchy or clashy, depending on what suits you.
The look is ultra flattering on any shape and unlike a skirt, shorts are ultra comfy and wearable anytime, any place!
Rock a plain t-shirt with the look or a buttoned up shirt for a nod to summery androgyny. Also wear with flats/converse for day, or sky-high heels for night, and whatever style you choose, make the look work for you by adding personal accents such as your favourite bag or jewellery.
Have you worked this look before? And what do you think of it?

I decided to pick one show from New York Fashion Week as my ultimate collection of the week, (you can see some of my other fave looks in my post below). And although a lot of the collections in New York this year were stunning, the one show that stole the spotlight for me was Oscar De La Renta.
If you read my previous post on his Pre Fall 2012 collection, you will know I’m a huge fan of ODLR, it seems that the man can do no wrong lately, as his last few collections have been flawless, with this season continuing the trend.
We all know that pastels are huge for Spring, and they are one of the freshest looks we’ve had for a long time, personally I was really hoping they would stick around but I was unsure how the designers would work them for Autumn. ODLR’s collection features pretty powder blue and candyfloss pink, he has updated Spring’s girly trends by adding coloured fur, pretty knits and topping off the looks with glittery hairbands. To make sure the models didn’t look too sweet, he teamed the looks with black fishnets and shoeboots or stilettos, giving the girls a tough edge.
Black was also present, but in feminine shapes and speckled with fancy patterns, there was pretty checks, ornate jewelry, ribbons, bows and floor length gowns in shades good enough to eat. The models make up was kept simple and dewy, while hair was half pinned up in a chic bob style.
The main colour of the show was blue, from dark teal to the lightest sky hue. If you want to be ahead of the fashion pack, start purchasing this colour now, as it wasnt just seen at Oscar’s show and could be the next big trend of Autumn/Winter.
In a nutshell, this collection is lady-like, glamorous and represents the 2012 woman perfectly.Take a look at a few of my fave looks from the show below and tell me what you think!
